Hey! I'm Lex and I'm So Glad You're Here.
Read and Repeat is a blog devoted to all things books and bookish!
My mission here is to create a space where all types of books and representations are featured so that more people can become aware of the tons of amazing books out there! We’re here to keep things relaxed, light, and fun while also providing informational material and maybe some genuinely cool stuff.
When not excitedly writing blog posts, you can find me reading with my cats or in the studio, chasing my cats away from my current cosplay/art project. You can probably also find me in the kitchen, dancing or basking in the light of an open refrigerator door.
My reading style can mostly be described as “all over the damn place.” I have been known to say on multiple occasions that I read the books that “speak to me” in the moment, and I’ve frequently put aside books that I tried to force myself to read without “hearing” them.
Right now I’m finding that I read fantasy more than any other genre, but I’m constantly working on diversifying my bookshelf!
I also love a good recommendation - from friends to blogs, to bookstagram and booktok, I’m a sucker for a book someone praises. If you have a book you’d like me to read and review, check out my contact page! I’d love to nerd out over a book with you!
My reviews and posts are about as much me as I can be. I try to be as truthful and authentic to my experience as possible, which means sometimes a negative review will pop up here and there. But don’t worry - I try to keep everything fun and informative so you can have a good time while you’re here.
(Wanna suggest a book for me to write about? Go here and read the details!)
I normally rate on a five-star scale and, for those that are curious, here's a breakdown of what those five stars mean to me.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5) : Excellent, would read again.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4) : Great, but probably wouldn't read again.
⭐⭐⭐ (3) : Eh.
⭐⭐ (2): Not good, but why?
⭐ (1) : Did not finish or almost did not finish.
And for those who are EXTRA curious - I do like myself a good spicy (smutty) romance story from time to time. If a book is about this topic exclusively or happens to contain sexy scenes, I'll also include a spicy pepper rating, as explained below.
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (5) : I don't have the strength of facial muscles or emotions to read this in public.
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (4) : Still need a good public poker face.
🌶️🌶️🌶️ (3) : A nice jalapeño.
🌶️🌶️ (2) : Taco Bell Mild Sauce.
🌶️ (1) : Was probably promised more and am disappointed or "first base" territory.
